Check Point's Strategic Cyber Expansion: Acquiring Cyclops and Cyata for $150 Million
The Israeli cybersecurity giant Check Point is making waves with a series of strategic acquisitions, targeting early-stage startups to bolster its domestic presence. Among these deals are the purchases of Cyclops Security and Cyata, two innovative companies addressing distinct enterprise security challenges. Additionally, Check Point has also acquired the team from Rotate, though the financial details of these acquisitions remain undisclosed.
Cyclops, founded by cybersecurity veterans Eran Zilberman, Elay Gueta, and Biran Franco, has developed an agentic exposure management platform. This platform, built on a cybersecurity mesh architecture, empowers security teams to query their environment using natural language. It provides actionable insights on vulnerabilities, incidents, and governance, risk, and compliance scenarios, revolutionizing how security teams operate.
Cyclops secured $12.5 million in Seed funding in July 2023, attracting investors such as Ibex Investors, Merlin Ventures, Insight Partners, Tal Ventures, and CrowdStrike’s Falcon Fund. The founders bring a wealth of experience from both the private sector and Israel’s national security apparatus, ensuring a strong foundation for the company's growth.
Meanwhile, Cyata, which emerged from stealth mode with $8.5 million in Seed funding led by TLV Partners, focuses on a novel yet growing vulnerability: unsupervised AI agents operating across enterprise environments. These agents, including task-driven bots, copilots, and chatbots, can autonomously execute code, query sensitive data, and initiate workflows, often bypassing conventional identity frameworks. Cyata's platform maps AI agents to human owners, continuously assesses risk, tracks activity with a forensic layer, and applies just-in-time access controls, addressing the oversight in AI agent management.
The acquisitions of Cyclops and Cyata demonstrate Check Point's commitment to staying at the forefront of cybersecurity innovation. By integrating these startups into its portfolio, Check Point is not only expanding its capabilities but also reinforcing its position as a leader in the dynamic field of cybersecurity.
