Unbelievable surfing! But here's where it gets controversial... While some might argue that the swell was just a coincidence, the facts speak for themselves. Three days after the forecast, Fiji was hit with the biggest waves in years. And this is the part most people miss... The swell wasn't just big, it was in March, the shoulder season. So, the south-east trades weren't yet kicking, and the southern tropics were still in the doldrums. But that didn't stop the waves from being incredible. Slack wind created sparkling conditions and barrels that stayed open from Third Ledge to Shishkabobs and beyond. The edit opens with Benji Brand's incredible wave. 'I'm still in disbelief,' Benji said afterwards, 'the day I dreamed about my whole life happened and I’m so grateful to have been a part of it.' The fella who filmed it all, Tucker, also puts that day on a pedestal. 'This was the best session of surfing I have ever been a part of,' he said.
