A controversial penalty call secured a fortunate win for Fulham against a toothless Nottingham Forest, with Raul Jimenez's spot-kick proving to be the difference in a hard-fought Premier League encounter. This victory, though, was a tale of two halves, with Fulham's struggles in the first period contrasting sharply with their resilience in the second.
The absence of key attacking players, Alex Iwobi and Samuel Chukwueze, seemed to weigh heavily on the Cottagers, who struggled to create chances. However, in a moment of brilliance, Kevin's quick feet outmaneuvered Douglas Luiz, leading to a penalty that many felt was soft.
"It was a harsh call," opined Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher. "When you're on the floor, trying to kick the ball away, it's a difficult situation. It's not a clear-cut penalty, but the referee's decision stands."
Despite Forest's control over much of the match, they lacked the clinical edge to find an equalizer. Igor Jesus had an early chance, but his hesitation allowed Bernd Leno to gather the ball.
"Forest dominated possession but couldn't convert their chances," Carragher added. "It's a familiar story for them this season."
Fulham's goal, scored just before halftime, proved to be the difference. Jimenez's glancing header in the second half nearly doubled their lead, but it wasn't to be.
The Cottagers' win moves them closer to a European spot, while Forest remain in 16th place, just above the relegation zone.
"It's a huge win for Fulham," said Carragher. "Two wins in a row in the Premier League is massive, especially for teams in the bottom half."
