According to sources, Campbell is set to ink an impressive eight-year deal with Penn State. This commitment signals a strong belief in his ability to lead the program.
Campbell's resume is certainly noteworthy. Over the past 10 seasons, he's been at the helm of Iowa State, where he amassed a record of 72-55. He steered the Cyclones to five seasons with 8 or more wins – a significant feat, considering Iowa State has only achieved this 10 times since 1907!
Before Iowa State, Campbell spent over four seasons at Toledo, where he went 35-15. He was promoted to head coach after serving as the team's offensive coordinator in 2010 and 2011.
This season, Campbell led the Cyclones to an 8-4 record.
The coaching search began on October 12, following the departure of former head coach James Franklin. Franklin had been with the program for over 11 years, boasting a record of 104-45. He even led the team to the College Football Playoff once and secured a Big Ten title.
The search wasn't without its twists and turns. Penn State initially pursued BYU head coach Kalani Sitake, but he ultimately decided to remain with the Cougars. Other candidates also withdrew from consideration.
